A slight oil problem and now a blown motor! i just cant seam to win :(

Well my car went from runnig great after i put the new single turbo on to a slight shake at idle to a few droplets of oil comming out of the turbo to oil pouring out of the turbo and the sound of running on one rotor. i dont know what could have happend. every time i started it is ran consistant until i started it this last time. it didnt want to crank over or start. i had to give it some gas to do so. just my luck i guesse. so with all of these problems i have been having im going to either buy a fully built motor or go ls1, aka the best religability mod ever! no offence rotor heads.

Any ideas on why it just all the sudden decided to take a **** on me?

maybe you overboosted at one wot sprint? or maybe your oil pump took a crap..could be lots of reasons..

go LS1 man, if you really love your fd, you'll do that..i love rotary but no fun in having the fd if you're paranoid 95% of the time you're driving it..when my engine goes and i have enough funds, a 2JZ is going in..

A 2j would be mean but handaling would go all to hell. I really love the way a 2j sound too, wich makes me miss my turboed IS300.
I really like hinsonsupercars.com 's twin turbo ls1 rx7 and it still handles well like any rx7 should. ls1's are a dime a dozen too.

one way or another looks like the car will be sitting for atleast another year. I was hopping to have it done by the time i went off to college (in 2months), but oh well like i said just my luck.

When i get home from work today i will start tearing it down and pull the motor to find out what happend and to make room for the new one what ever it may be.

2mchpwr, I like the way yours has turned out, it is really clean and it makes me want to go ls1 now more then ever.

unless you're taking your car to the track every weekend or something, noticing the handling difference between the 13b and the 2jz is not existent..well unless you take city streets corners at 60mph lol..

if its a street car, do one of those conversions..i happen to love the sound and power of the 2jz, thats why i HAVE to have it sooner..or maybe ill get a supra idk..

I'm assuming you had a tuned PFC with this setup?

i never made any boost on the new setup. I started it one last time before i went to go get intercooler piping made and an ecu upgrade.

You should do a compression test before you jump to any blown motor conclusions.

why else would it run on one rotor and pour oil out of the back of the turbo?

Did you mix up an oil and coolant line to the turbo?

you can not blow a motor (apex) by idling with a single turbo.

it really sounds like something went wrong with the install...running one rotor could be because one rotor is flooded or spark is dead.

no offense, but you don't sound like you dove into this project fully equipped with the knowledge to pull yourself out.

and who ever said a 6 piston motor (2JZ) won't affect handling over a 13B has no clue how to drive

i know its not flooded and im still getting spark. i just really dont know what could have happened. when i try and start it it will run for a second while shooting flames/ sparks and shakes like a big block with a cam.
After the install the car ran fine and all of the sudden its giving me problems. i will compresion check it tomarrow or the next day seeing it is thanks giving tomarrow. by the way happy thanks giving to you guys.

Pray for you it's not blown. Don't understand why you wouldnt or moreover why people just dont go 3 rotor N/A. Anyways if I had the cash I would just get everything redone on a 13b(wiring harness, all cooling, all lines, injectors, pumps, fuel rail, intakes w/piping EVERYTHING to copy Re's White car) Anyways it's a dream probably will buy an Ultima or a TVR when they come here. But again praying for you.

the only reason im even considering a ls1 is the religability factor. Being in college I just dont have the money to keep blowing up rotarys.

I know the feeling I go to University. But for me the thing is that well I hate to say it and not to be arrogant but if you want and LS1 buy a f***in Corvette. Same type looks V8 and performing. It's like if I got Lex Steele's "bolt ons" put instead of mine. Wait a second you might have a point there......
