Sitting in the passenger seat

I bought my 93 touring in 93 with 14K miles on it. The passenger seat has seen little use in the intervening years. I took a trip from Tucson to Phoenix recently with a friend at the wheel. I was a little startled to discover how much more comfortable that rather pristine seat passenger seat was to ride in. I guess my *** has worn it's contour into the drivers seat. Apparently the longer trip made this more apparent than a short ride about town. If you car is in a similar condition think about it the next time you put a trusted friend behind the wheel. While it makes me wonder what a new seat costs, I am pessimistic enough not to take the bother to ask the dealer.

I called for pricing on new seats from Mazda and the parts guy said that Mazda doesn't sell the whole seat assembly anymore; they only sell covers to reupolster the ones you have. I don't think I spelled reupolster right.

i think its not the covering that makes the butt feels different
its more of the material or sponge that comfort the butt that makes the different.
Perhaps we can take out the sponge stuff and replace it...
Anyone did it?

The coverings are ridiculously expensive as well. I can, luckily, get parts at a "jobber" rate and even this was quite a bit. If you wanted to recover the whole seat you would have to order the bottom and the back as they sell them seperatly.
