Single Turbo Cold Air Intake Ideas

Hi Everyone,

I'm trying to figure a good way to plumb/duck cold air to my single turbo setup . I'm going to be running the RE-A N1-Facer (05) front bumper (currently using the FEED), CompTurbo 6065, DOC race manifold, and Defined Autoworks V-mount kit.

I'm wondering what the best place to draw in fresh air for the turbo is . Most of the setups I've seen pictures of just pipe it some where close to the intercooler or place a filter directly on the turbo. Is there a cold air setup people are using for a single? My car currently has the head light air intake slot (FEED) but I plan to take out the pop up lights. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Look in Ruler Mark's Build Thread. He had a fairly robust CAI/ducting he fashioned for his car.

Saw the thread. Really neat idea, only problem for me is it takes the entire right head light position for the air intake. I still need some sort of light there.

I know you already have your intercooler purchased, but the solution for me was to run a water to air exchanger. I'll be mounting it up sometime february. Because the intercooler itself doesn't require airflow, I was free to mount a huge airbox at the front of the engine bay and allows you to run the stock intercooler duct into the airbox.

Thewird has a nice setup for fresh air intake. Since you have a vmount you could do something similar.

Function >>> form.

non-collapsable pipe/hose hooked onto turbo, leads down to corner intake in bumper, under light. Put filter there.
Easy, cheap and all the fresh air you need. Looks industrial and efficient too

I made a nice one that goes down into the bumper but the headlight motor gets removed and headlight mounted in fixed upright position, I don't mind that, and I mount just the headlight cover in the down position when I go drag racing, just made a bunch of brackets for mounting. If search you can find my pics and info about it.

I'm making a custom back plate for the M2 airbox, for my single setup that is currently in the works. The M2 box draws air from the front bumper opening, with a scoop that goes between the side of the radiator & the body.

That's not a half bad idea if I change my setup in the future. Do you gain or lose any weight with the water exchanger? Are your water temps any higher?

That's the v-mount kit I'm using (not my car FYI). Are you talking about the spacing on the passenger side?

Would this work with fixed headlights like the RE-A style?

Would this work with a front bumper like the FEED or RE-A style? Any pictures?

Thanks for all the info

I looked up the setup thewird had. It looks pretty good but I'll need a slimer version and also remove part of the ducting on the v-mount in order to access the air.
