Simplified Vacuum Setup Questions
Sorry to drag this up, I've done tonnes of searching but on 56k it isn't much fun
I am in the middle of sorting those horrible hoses out and thought I may as well go simplified but I have a few questions
1) Once the ACV is removed, where did you get your block off plates from and what did you use to seal it? (instant gasket?)
2) Does the pressure chamber (in the position suggested by Wade) mount straight up to wher the ACV was or is a tap required?
3) Is it worth getting braided lines? and if so whats the best place/make you've found to get them from?
4) What did you use to block up all the other vacuum points that aren't needed? Just 4 & 6mm caps (like the ones fitted in a few places on the car)
5) Please post pics of your engine bay with this done

1) This job is dam hard, I've changed engines easier than this

2) Pressure chamber does not "bolt" anywhere. On his simplification page, Rob Robinette placed it underneath the UIM where the ACV used to be. You can wedge it in there (it won't move), or place some velcro on there to be sure.
3) Braided lines? I'm assuming you're talking about oil metering lines. I would not recommend replacing the stock ones unless they are broken. If they are, then yes, go ahead and upgrade to braided.
4) Use good quality caps. The cheapo rubber ones from the auto store WILL fail. I recommend getting some good quality silicone (or similar) nipple caps from mcmaster.
5) This is with my custom solenoids (group buy going on right now!)

2.)Mount it in the original location. Not subjected to as much heat as under the UIM.
3.) Braided lines for what? fuel? Not recommended if you're still using the stock fuel system due to nothing more than pure aggravation. I would replace the OMP lines with aftermarket, since you are there.
4.) You can just use vacuum caps or if there are two lines beside each other you can just use route one to the other with a piece of hose.

Braided lines are for fuel, because my nest screws didn't come undone I had to undo the whole fuel system n god knows what else
A couple of the fuel lines were stuck on solidly and I don't like pulling on fuel rails and other bits too hard so I had to cut them away, I'm thinking now of leaving the whole metal unions out and just going straight from the piping to the rail
As I've got all this out I am thinking about throwing a bit of money at her but I guess really, get her working, get the needed gauges n then progress

all you need is some high-pressure/high-temp fuel hose. You can do braided steel if you like, but I found that the cost for me at the time of my project was just out of the scope of reason. Plus, a lot less hassle.

Cheers guys, next question:
There is a pipe that runs from the back of the IM and IIRC it goes back into the airbox, did you also block this off, I can't the back of the IM in any photos sadly
There are two metal pipes and it is held on with 3 nuts/bolts
