Simplified Sequential.... pass emissions?

I have been trying to find out if it is still possible to pass emissions with the simpilfied sequential?

The reason I am asking is becasue I am going to do a Vac job, and I figure that would be a good time to do it aswell.

If you remove the emission components, then how do you expect to pass emissions? That's basically what the simplified sequential setup is... it basically removes the vacuum lines for the emission controls and leaves the controls for the sequential turbo control.

Thumbs up

The simplification removes the emissions control systems. You will not pass a smog exam without paying off the inspector or buying a counterfeit inspection sticker.

If you have a cat on the car and run the air pump straight to the cat, you will still pass. If you don't want to reinstall an airpump every year, use an electric one from Chevy, Volvo, etc...

Sorry to dig up an old thread. Put do you need the airpump for the cat? If i am correct its only used for warm to the pumping the air adds more heat, but once the car is fully warmed the air no longer gets pumped in.

Has anyone pass there car with out the air pump?

The FSM can tell you exactly when and where air is being pumped (either to exhaust ports, main cat, or airbox). IIRC, the airpump is running when the engine is below 3250rpm. The bottom line is that you will not be able to pass a smog exam without your airpump.

I found where it said about the clutch drive shutting off at 3250rpm, but nothing about where and how much etc.

I know for sure Camaro's Corvettes etc only use ti under warm up (C6 removed it with thiner tubing wall), I also know that air is only feed to the cat under warmup in the FCs, and most of the time the air is pumped in and right back out.

Mine just failed here in NY with a high flow cat and air pump installed. Same thing happened last year with the stock cat. Probably should just put on a midpipe. Fortunately, there was a nice, clean running Buick next to us that lent it's exhaust for measurement, and ultimately a passed inspection for the 7.
