Simple question just need second opinion

so yea i had a a guy tell me that on fd's it is good to remove the insulation on the top of the hood because it would help reduce engine heat ...... but at the same time i was second guessing him cause i beleive that it serves a poupose and not only that it keeps the heat off of the hood and doesnt destroy paint... just need some other opinions thanks

I havnt had mine for years and I havnt had issues. Its been talked about a few times and I dont think anyone has had and trouble. An increase in engine noise is something else that has been mention with removing the insulation.

Yea i was expecting a little more engine noise and all but my main concern is that will it mess up the paint at all, and will it really reduce the engine bay temp like the guy said that it would????

I don't have the insulation eithere. Doesn't really mess up the paint but you do have to wash the underside of your hood.

I believe it's that fire retardant stuff just in case of an engine fire. I haven't seen the thread about removing it though.
