half bridge or streetport have searched
Hey people I have just been searching but havnt got the answer I was after,I see lots of people say go for a street port over a half bridge, as the half bridge is not really a daily driver drivability wise, what makes the bridge less drivable than a street port?? I also read that if you go half bridge that you convert to a single turbo as the half bridge revs higher that the streetport and the twins cant handle the rpm, ????????????
so i guess what im saying is is it possiable to go to a half bridge and keep my twins and still have a good motor for daily driving????????
I have a 99, pretty stock but the motor is comeing out in the next month for rebuild and a port of sorts, yet to be decided hencethis post lol, i will upgrade injectors when motor is out and a few other bits as well,
by the waw I live in New Zealand so I dont think there are any smog laws??
any help appreciated
Thanks Mark

the street ports are made for low to mid power range so it isnt worth it reving it out cause your powerband is in the mid range, the twins hp starts to die around 7000rpm which isnt worth it ne ways
a 1/2 bridge & a big turbo works together like 2 fingers & a girls *&#^@. 1/2 bridge starts around 4000rpm & ends around 8500rpm. and will help the big turbos spool a whole lot more than the street port (i know i used to have a street port) the disadvantage is the idle is a little loopy & the startup on a 1/2 bridge is kinda hard (must use gas to get the rpms up) once broken in i starts like any other rotary would. and the idle is a brap brap brap (like those motorcycles) but it depends on what turbo you use that would determine the port you choose!

thanks guys sounds like i will go with a large street port, is there anywhere i can find a picture of a streetport ?? and is it the lumpy idle that makes the bridge port hard to drive? thanks mark

i think you should go with a large streetport... the dyno numbers ive seen recently arent that much different between large streetports and half bridge's 2 convince me
