the rx8's rear looks like a shortened version of the protege rear IMO.

Has you all seen the Mazda 3? Look like a smaller version of the RX8. Feeling bad for the 8's owners. There will be so many out there soon and the 8 will not be as unique.
IMO, the 7 looks so much better that the 8s and the 3s.

Have you guys seen the interior of the 3? I think it uses the same gauge cluster as the 8!

I love the way the rx8 looks I think that mazda did an incredible design on the car. I love the subtle yet obvious hints that it is a rotary in there. I would definetly have one as a daily driver but as far as better than the 7 no way. Our cars styling was before its time and cars are still trying to catch up to the 7 in styling aspects. But readers of road and track love the 8 they chose it as the second best car of the year behind the sti. It beat out the new bmw 5 series, 350z convertible, and the PORSCHE GT3. Pretty good company for all the readers to choose that over a gt3 and almost get car of the year. They car is awesome.

I am by no means an RX-8 detractor, but next to the 7 it looks like a sack of potatoes. I wonder what the relative drag coefficients are?

Get some age on the RX-8 and we'll see more wheel upgrades, body kits, lower suspension etc. There's a lot of potential there.
