Silver canister next to intercooler?

I'm in the process of creating a intercooler duct for a new intercooler, and I was wondering what the silver canister is in front of it, and how important it is for it to get air flow through the duct.

It's the A/C accumulator/dryer. Does it need to be part of the duct? Not really, but it wouldn't hurt to keep some air flow to it.

That bastard A/C accumulator thing made it even mroe annoying to get rid of the stock plastics that usually help distribute air to the IC.

It like, wraps around that accumulator, and I had to kinda bend the lines (not KINK them, of course) to get it to pull out.

Engine bay looks alot cleaner and less jumbled up now. I like it NOT being there.

EDIT:

Gah, I need new air filters..I wonder if I can get them from Pep Boys or Autozone or something. The K&N ones.
