Silicone elbow between IC and Turbo

I have a greddy FMIC and I'm lookign to conenct it to a 62-1 that has a 2.5" outlet. The greddy couplers have an ID of 2.75". I need to connect the IC pipe to the compressor outlet via a 90o silicone coupler. I've foudn them for a good price in 2.5", I'm wondering how well this will work on the slightly oversized IC piping.

I have yet to find a 2.5" to 2.75" 90o silicone elbow.

Also please don't recommend welding on an aluminum elbow as I've chosen not to do this for resale reasons.

Thanks for your help/opinions,
- Cody

I can't recall seeing an elbow of any size with different diameters at each end, all I've ever seen are short straight hoses. Is there not room to use an elbow and a reducer?

yeah, same with e-bay. I've foudn 4 ply ones on ebay for $26 shipped. constant 2.5" ID kept throughout the elbow

basic question i guess is will the 2.5" stretch over the 2.75 easily enough?

they should have fiber layed in with the silicone, that will break before it stretches.

good luck tho.

even just that little bit? i know they are reinforced but it only needs to stretch 1/4"

I guess I'll just give it a try. I figured someone would knwo from experience, how is everyoen else plumbing single turbos?

I agree with XSTransAm. If a coupler could stretch that much you wouldn't want to use it in the first place. Only be a matter of time before it splits.

hmm, what my solutions then? I could get a small section of 2.5" aluminum pipe, weld it to the end of the 2.75 and then bead the end.

Problems are:

I don't have a pipe beader, section of 2.5" pipe, or an aluminum welding setup

. Anyone happen to have a small piece lying around

I don't know if they make that, but here's some additional options...

How much space are you working with? You could get the 2.5" elbow and use a small section of aluminum pipe to step up from 2.5" to 2.75" and couple that section to the intercooler inlet.

what about a 2.5-3 inch? Think the 3" will seal well enough on a beaded 2.75" pipe? I've got nice thick t-bolt clamps

Just use 4" of 2.5" pipe and butt the 2.5" elbow and 2.5" to 2.75" coupler together over the pipe. I doubt it will come loose.

Yes, exactly.

EDIT: but use a 2.5" to 2.75" reducer.

Try this web site. I found a straight 2.75 to 2.50 straight, perhaps you can look a bit further and find a 90 degree one. Jack

2.5" to 3". ATP turbo has tons of neat stuff - VERY handy to have bookmarked if you have a single turbo!

Also - http://www.injen.com/hose.html

Injen has a 2.5" to 2.75" elbow. I've seen their elbows in person, and they're VERY nice.
