Silicon hoses for oil injection, good?

hey guys, i broke a little plastic line that is used to inject oil on the top of the engine, it was too dry and brittle.

Can i replace it with silicon hose? It's just like 3", anyone had bad experience using this?

I don't want to have to tear the whole car apart and buy a new OMP...

thanks a lot

youre talking about the actual oil carrying line, right? if so, no. . . the oil will eat up the silicon line. get -2 ss braided line and make your own lines. . . the clamps can be attained at mcmaster-carr. just measure the OD of the line and search on mcmaster-carr for oettiker. . . maybe just one "t". then order a bag of two ear clamps that correspond to your line. . . voila. . . everlasting OMP lines.

how long will the silicon hold up? will it hold up for a month at least?

Why do it twice and take a chance. Silicone degrades quickly in the presence of oil and heat and guess what you are asking it to do. Use the piece of anatomy in between your ears and listen carefully. Is it worth blowing a motor???

Instead, unplug the OMP and add premix oil to your gasoline until you can get the correct oil lines.

You can run on premix indefinitely.

The stock lines only cost about $22 each . Or make them out of ss braided hose . For a temp fix use buna-n hose ,it will thak the oil and only cost 50 cents per foot . Any auto parts store will have the buna-n .

I agree, for the time being, use double walled transmission hose -- if it can handle hot tranny oil, I'm sure it can handle hot motor oil.
