Side Mirror Actuator Help!

Hi all,

Hoping for some knowledge. I repainted the FD recently which involved me tearing the mirrors down. I forcefully removed the plastic that holds the mirror along with the little white rods that the actuator uses to adjust them.

Long story short I reinserted them into the actuator and now they won't move. I also can't manipulate them manually. I could be totally wrong, but to reach the screws to remove the actuator you do actually have to remove the mirror first? Or am I wrong and I've broken something? It was axtreamly hard to remove and I ended up breaking one of the mirrors.

This will probably be my last call for help because I'm letting the old girl go. Just want to fix the last the last few issues.

Thanks for all the help over the years. This has been an amazing resource that's got me out of a few head scratch moments.

the mirrors are kind of finnicky to take apart. the glass is glued to the holder, and in the center of the holder is a screw that lets you remove the holder and then the whole mechanism comes up.
i feel like any 90's Mazda would have the same motor assembly thing, the FD just has a unique glass, holder and the outer shell.

so to get the glass out, you can heat it up, and the glue will get soft, but how much is the hard part. i put mine in the oven on low for ~15 minutes and was able to gently get the glass out.
more heat would get the glass out easier, but you run the risk of melting something else

Thanks,

I actually reinstalled the new glass with bitumin adhesive so I'll give that a try. Hopefully comes out easier. Could over tightening the main central screw be the problem? I know there's a spring. I'm wondering of that's why I can't manually move them either?
