side housings

My side seals blew and scratched my side housings pretty bad, I'm not sure how deep yet. I'm wondering how far they can be machined down, and if they should do the hole housing or just where the rotor runs?

Who's doing the work? Because if they don't have a recommendation, take it elsewhere.

I would replace the housings unless the motor has very low miles or other reasons that would be indictive of the housing being in perfect condition

"side housings"??????Are your talking about the side plates or the housings?

The side plates are where the intake ports are and they can be "decked", or machined down, if the scratches are not too deep. If the housing, the part that has the exhaust ports, is scratched you will need a new one.

Sorry, I did mean the side plates. My housings seem fine at this point. I'm just curious how far they can actually be taken down safely, I have yet to measure the depth of the scratches(I'm doing that this week).
If I do need new ones, does anyone know where I can get some at a good price?
