Should we start a parts price thread?

I'm sure I'm not alone here, and since most of us don't have access to mazda parts price lists, I was wondering: Should we start a sticky thread that people could post the part they bought from mazda, the part number and the price they paid for it? Becuase here's what happens, I look at my FD and I think to myself, I'd like to replace those Fuse box covers they are old and look bad and the stickers are peeling off, but I wonder how much they are...Cost being the prohibitive factor in my decision to replace them or just keep cleaning them hoping they'll look new. But, if we ahd a thread where when people bought a new part from mazda they could post it up and others could search within the thread to find an approximate cost, it would save SOMEONE whose name starts with an R, whom I don't want to associate with this thread really, from having to answer the phone and do price qoutes all day, when we call to order parts we'll already have a ballpark idea how much it is going to be...The only problem I can forsee at the moment is people trying to haggle with Mazda dealers over prices that otherse have paid for the same part. I guess we just have to keep in mind that it is Mazda who is selling the parts and they can charge what they want...

Yes or no guys????

what's the point? You probably don't want to know what Mazda charges for most of their parts anyway. Just wait for Ray to have a sale, and if you can't, call him anyway because that's the only way you're not going to have to sell your FD to afford OEM parts from Mazda for it.

Well, my point was to save having to make pointless price question calls sto Ray everytime I feel like replacing a part. plus it will give some of us some idea about when and how to go about replacing things. for instance: my OMP harness got shredded and I called Ray and he said $1400, and I said for $1400 I can buy 10 used ons and just swap them out when they go bad. But if I had this thread, then I could just look up the cost and I wouldn't need to bother a Mazda guy for it.

Data on stuff like prices goes stale and becomes incorrect and useless. Prices change....

Plus the newbies wouldn't read it anyway. They'd just post like normal. Look at how many threads get posted daily that are already answered in the FAQ.

I understand that whis won't be a Price List, but as I have said, it will give a ballpark price for those intrested in the part and if it is reasonable then they can call and get a up to date price. Another for instance: I would like to slowly replace the interior plastics in my car with ones that aren't scratched and cracked. So rather than digging through the parts manual and writing down every partr # and calling Mazda and spending an hour on the phone researching prices, I could look here....Maybe I should give up.

Everyone has access to mazda parts prices. You take the part number (get that from the sticky thread) and then go to a site like www.worldpartsexpress.com or www.mazdapartscheap.com and enter the part numbers.

It takes a little time to dig up the part numbers but it's accurate and you can do it any time.
