Should vacum chamber hold vacum after engine is off

After you have run the engine for awhile and then shut it off, should the
vacum chamber still hold vacum like the pressure chamber holds pressure,
and if you remove the hose to the vacum chamber should you be able to
hear air rushng in?

Also when I remove the hose from the vacum chamber while the engine
is running I can feel vacum drawing on the hose but it is not a very strong pull.
Is this normal.

Thanks for the feed back.

Thanks Zoom Zoom.
That is what I thought it should do and mine doesn't.
I am going to have to check to see of my vacum chamber is holding.

Thanks again for the help

Well, I remove my vacum chamber to check if it would hold vacum/pressure and it seems to hold. I have also replaced the check valve that is between the vacum
chamber and the UIM. The reason I know it is that check valve is because when I
remove the hose from the check valve that leads to the rats nest tubing I no longer
had any vacum in the hose that leads to the vacum chamber. After replacing this
check valve I do have more vacum in the hose that runs to the vacum chamber.
With the old check valve there was some vacum but not very much. There still is not much but you can definetly feel it. The problem is if I start the engine and let it idle for a minute or two and then shut the engine off and remove the hose from the vacum chamber I do not hear any air rushing in.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

John

John,

have you done vac job before?? Are you having any issues with your car, ie seq. turbo problems??

If you replaced all your one way valves, than you might have bad hoses.. maybe a hose with a small crack.. I would replace the hoses with the one way valves.. or one of your one way valve is placed wrong. Double check all your lines as one mis-directed valve will cause problems..

Herb,
Thank you for your reply. I have had a hose job done and I am having a turbo problem.
It is the classic low secondary boost in 1st and 2nd gears. No problems doing the standard
WOT 3rd gear test. My vacum side check valves arrows all point back towards the UIM and
the check valve arrow in the hose to the pressure chamber points towards the pressure chamber.
The pressure tank holds pressure after the engine is shut off but no vacum exists in the
vacum chamber after shutting off the engine. I am aware that my
turbo symptoms could be pointing to the TCA or one or both TC selonoids. I am trying to
make sure I have eliminated any other possible causes before pulling the UIM and checking
those selonoids. If one of those selonoids is stuck or bad could that result in no vacum in the
chamber after the engine is shut off?

Thanks again

John
