should i start looking into replacing my stock rims?
should i start looking into replacing my stock rims?
i like the look and light weight of stock rims. im thinking of going single so ill be putting more power to the ground in a few months. i want to keep my stock looks and wheels but i don't know if 245s all around on stock rims is a bad idea with the added power. do you think i can just get more expensive, stickier tires?
The stock rims are light, good quality, and perform well. If you like the looks, keep them. You can always put "r" compound tires on them for extra grip.
Another benefit to the stock rims is the price of tires. Tires for 18" rims can easily cost $300 each.

I think you'd moreso have simple traction problems than have to worry about rim cracking. Rim cracking seems to be a more extreme case.
Anyhow, you'll never know if you'll have traction problems until you get there. Driving on R or near-R compound rubber isn't cheap, and a lot of the really sticky tires out there aren't that hot in the rain.
