I have no need for the money. I don't need to sell the car to help out pay some bill. It just seems like one of those moments where its a rich guy and every woman has her price. Twenty thousand was the magic number. Since he offered it that's what I will hold him to. When we go over the paperwork and records I've kept on the car and he mentions anything below 20k then I'm going to say NO.
I'm not going to take him seriously after I have sat down with him and covered everything about the car with him. Then I'll see if his gotta have this car mentality is still strong. If so I might decide to sell, and save up for the Rx9 as long as its better than the outgoing Rx8, or as supernaut suggested take a look at the classified and see what finished product I can buy off a member.

Thinking about it, I feel kinda bad for my brother now since he did all that work for dirt cheap to help you out for you to just turn around and sell it. I didn't think about that earlier. I bet he wouldn't have gone through all that considering how much he charged. I'm pretty sure the reason he did it was to help you out so you could get back to enjoying your car.
I was thinking about how much money he saved me with all the work he's done and how, if I factored that in, I could NEVER even come close to getting enough to make it worth selling it. Then I started thinking of when I was at his house and he'd be working on your car and it would be a pain in his *** and how he probably wouldn't have wanted to go through all that if he knew you weren't gonna keep it. I bet he thinks about this next time someone asks for his help again, lol.

We can't predict the future Matt. I never would have considered that I would have been selling it. The guy offered a price I could certainly respect. I thought I was going to own this car years on end. Not to mention I told this guy no several times, and I never posted the car ever for sale. It was simply parked in the parking lot, and somebody made it their focus in life to hunt down the owner of the Rx7, and offer money for it.

I'm just saying I feel bad for Greg. The only reason it was even possible for you to get it back up and running was because of him helping you out, if he wasn't around to help you out and you had taken the car to a shop you would have definitely lost money on this deal. No **** you can't predict the future but why wouldn't I feel bad for my brother. Think about it, to help you out he had your car at his house for what about 4 months, and only charged you $600 for the swap and another couple hundred for all the other miscellaneous and suspension stuff.
I'm not saying you had no right to sell the car, it's yours, no one can tell you what to do with your stuff (at least not while bad *** ****'s like us are serving in the military j/k just making reference to the freedom's of living in America). I'm just saying in this situation I feel bad for Greg, that's all.

He did it to help him out since he didn't have the money or the time to really go anywhere else. That's why I feel bad, that's not exactly what he would have charged if the situation wasn't him helping someone out that was kinda in a bad spot. If my brother didn't help him out his other choices were to spend a lot more money at shops that didn't have the time within his schedule or have it towed to his next duty station and sit with a blown engine for probably around a year. It's not a matter of his prices it's a matter of he did something to help out a fellow RX7/rotary enthusiast who blew his engine.

To the OP: you have a great looking car, I say keep the FD unless you're strapped for cash (how could that be when you're fresh out of the military?) and truly need the money. These cars (in nice shape) are becoming irreplaceable
Edit: just read that you sold....invest in gold my friend

If someone offered me $20k cash for my car as it sits, I would sell it no questions asked. With that kind of coin I could easily get into another FD and have a bag of cash leftover.

^ or you could buy someone else's problem. Alot of hack jobs out there; hidden gremlins waiting to bite you in the ***. For instance, I would never buy another reman engine.
Let's face it, for the performance a nicely modded FD offers, $20 is a deal. In order to match it you need something like a Cayman S, and even that isn't going to keep up.

94touringfd, I completely agree with your statements. If I was working on a friends car to help them out and then they sell the car not long after I finished the work I woluld be upset as well. I think your brother should get a little piece of the $20k for his time and effort.
