BC Should I be concerned?

This has been bugging me for a long time, but I figured it wasn't anything TOO TOO major.

There seems to be a tube that broke off which goes from the air intake to the engine? I figure that it just pulls air, so the filter isn't super super crucial. Am I wrong? What does the tube do? Is this something I should be urgently worried about, and replace ASAP?

I haven't had my stock system for a while, but I think that hose goes to the air pump. It takes atmospheric air and pumps it into the main catalytic convertor to catalyze exhaust. I don't see anything too serious about having it open like that, but I'd either try to epoxy the plastic nipple back on or buy a breather filter for it to stop dust and other things that may affect it from getting in there.

that's the hose that usually causes the "moo" sound some people talk about. It's really only ran into the airbox to muffle the noise.

Thanks guys. Another thing...
I was taking my intake apart (It's near impossible... ) and trying to check the air filter (which ended up being pretty clean, it was a HKS one and it was spongy and had oil? on it.)

Anyways, I figured I would take the hoses off of it first, so it could actually be opened up, and I could get to the filter right? So I did, and the first couple went off great, but then I got to the one on side. It felt really lose, so after I unhooked it from the intake, I gave it a little tug (really no force used at all) and out it came. I was a little frightened, kinda just staring at it wondering what exactly it was. Any ideas guys?

(It's the blue circle this time, I was too lazy to take another picture and edit it properly. =\)

That's the "hose to nowhere" - it's just a dump for the air pump return air. Totally normal.

I would either get a new airbox that's in one piece or get an aftermarket intake. With that nipple broken off, the engine can pull unfiltered air through that hole, which isn't cool.

Read up on some of the FAQs - the hose to nowhere is covered.
