Almost hit my boss in the parking lot last night, so I'd better get it fixed quick, lol.
where is it most likely disconnected? how best to get at it?

The reverse and neutral switchs are nearly identical and have almost the same length leads...but different connectors. Easily confused..ask me how I know. Check to see if your back-up lights come on when they're not suppose to. If they do, the transmission has to be dropped to switch them out.
The wires to the switch can be severed in the removal process if the shop gets over enthusiastic - lets hope not - usually break at the point they go into the switch to make a solder repair near impossible too.
You can switch the reverse transmission switch without dropping the tranny, I've done it.
The other switch is higher up and harder to access.
Not sure why the shop would swap them though, unless installing a new(used) transmission.
