shims on flywheel ?

shims on flywheel ?
I had my flywheel re-surfaced, and they said they had to take a lot off (0.30-inch) and may need to SHIM it.
Two questions:
1) where can you get 0.30-inch shims ?
2) where do I add the shim (e.g., flywheel-to-crank bolts OR flywheel to pressure-plate bolts) ?
Thanks,
:-) neil

Oh, that's a lot of material. 0.030 sounds reasonable, but .300? There is supposedly a specification for how much is acceptable to machine off.
If that's actually how much they removed then I would first make sure the flywheel isn't junk. Removing too much metal will put the flywheel at risk of breakage. And a broken flywheel isn't much different than a car bomb.

I do not see them cutting .300 in off of a flywheel .If they did they are as dumb as rocks .If they took .030 off then that is still alot but I would be looking for another wheel .Be safe not as above ,a car bomb .I should have a wheel in storage but so does someone closer to your house . Or get a counter weight from an auto trans and a light steel fly wheel .

I've never heard of shimming a flywheel. One thing, the flywheel is stepped so it's not common. Hopefully your shop knew what they were doing, but to me, it sounds like they don't.
I have an extra flywheel in my garage that you can have. It would need to be turned.
