Just sat in my son's RX7 and when I grabbed the shifter -- it turns?

Not just the ****, but the shaft. . .

Son is out of town so I don't know if it just happened or has been like that.

Any thoughts? OEM shifter and you can turn it right or left.

Can you visibly see the steel shaft spin? Or is it just the boot turning with the ****?

Also, What are you doing driving your sons car?

 

Check the groove bushing it might be worn out and causing play.
