NJ Shifter assembly question.

Hello everyone,

I am putting the shifter back in my trans with new parts. I have two questions.

1. How do I take apart the shifter so I can put the new boot and other parts on it.

2. What is the circular metal piece to the right in the first picture and alone in the second. It is not the same as the replacement part that I have shown, and it was broken when I removed it. Also where does it go?

Pic of my painted trans for the hell of it:

search parts or download the manual. there you can find detail pics of how to assemble and disassemble just about anything.

Nice site, but neither of my questions are answered. He does refer to removing the wafer washers though which is probably what I have broken. Still not sure where it belongs.

Thanks for your help.

If anyone is interested it turns out the boot slides right over the shifter and it doesn't come apart.

Also that broken piece I had was just another wave washer.

Circular peice is called a wave washer, it sits under the bushing (grey thing) and tightens it around the base of the shifter. I figured it out and im not mechanically inclined
