I just removed my stock AM/FM Cassette player and CD (stopped working) to put a simple aftermarket replacement in its place and make room for 3 soon to be gauges in the console.

Upon removing the stereo, I find a single shielded cable that is cut in two with 1 red wire slightly poking out of it. The shielded wire goes to the far right hand top corner of the center console under the dash and is separate of the stock radio harness. It appears the red wire only may have been attached to the bottom right hand side of the stock radio, but I am not for sure.

I currently have the battery out getting a simple recharge going back into it so I can start and run the car in the garage to temp, so I haven't kick on the ignition to see what is not working. Is it by chance the security item?

Any ideas out there?

 

Hmmm perhaps I should have put this in audio section in hindsight. I am beginning to think it is the Antenna Connector...

 

Sorry for the thread. Found my answer. It is indeed the Antenna Wire. This connection is in so tight in the radio there is NO WAY you can get the radio out without potentially destroying this thing.

I will need to put on a new plug for my new head unit anyway so good to know. Here is the pick of what I was talking about:
