Angry she's dead!

while following a pack of rx7's saturday morning to the midwest rotary rally, i got on it a bit and all of a sudden i had no boost control- full boost. so i took it easy the rest of the way there and when i hit a stop sign noticed my idle was surging from 800- 1800, must be a vacuum leak . i parked it and found the vacuum cap on my wastegate had fallen off! thinking i had fixed everything i was happy and having fun talking with other rx7 enthusiasts, getting sunburnt and excited because steve kan said he would have time to tune my car on sunday. well as i am leaving i notice the goofy idle is back, i keep telling myself it's just another vacuum leak, but something just doesn't sound right. i exit the freeway by my house and the idle problem is worse, now i have to hold it at 3000 to keep it from jumping. so i get home and immediatley rip off the uim and check for leaks, finally i find one- the silicone hose from my uim to the fuel pressure regulator had a nice rip in it on the backside of the fpr nipple. i got that sick feeling in my chest, kind of like when you get kicked in the goods. sure enough, fixed the hose, started it back up, ran ok for a minute and then began smoking very bad out of the exhaust. front rotor compression is gone. to top off my weekend my central air conditioner took a **** and the worst part was finding out a friend was involved in a motorcycle accident and is still in critical condition. when it rains it pours! watch those damn silicone lines!-garrett

look at it this way: you can get a bigger port now! or now steve can tune your car w/ the new port on it... come on, you only have six more days!

i think i may take a break from the car. i just finished installing new turbos on friday night after breaking bolts off in the manifold and turbo housing. i think the car might have cut that vacuum line to try to get back at me for some of the names i called it last week! other major work i have done this summer-transmission and clutch swap, non seq, suspension. i think i'm going to lose my mind!

Re: she's dead!

I'm sorry to hear about your mishap. I was wondering why I didn't see you on Sunday. If you need or have questions on a motor rebuild, give us a call. We provide free tuning on customer cars when we do motor rebuild/porting. That is our way to make sure that the cars that come out of our shop runs strong and also minimizes the warranty claim (if any). Give us a call if you have any questions.

Steve
