Question Shane Racing

Is the radiator from Shane Racing any different or better than the radiator from Fluidyne, Koyo, or PWR? Any thoughts, ideas, comments, questions, would be great!

Thanks, Matt

Thumbs down

**** those ********, I can't stand them. They rip people off and you can forget about trying to get a deal on products they sell. Also, there is a guy in there that seriously needs his *** kicked.

Just get the Fluidyne or Koyo. I have the Fluidyne and it's awesome.

I really do "not" know but if I was to guess, i'd say it was a MazdaComp just because of the price. I use the Fluidyne and it's beautifully made and a perfect fit.

I've tried to e-mail questions to SR and it literaly takes two months for a reply. They seem similar to Tri-Point that they only want to help you if you spent alot of money with them and only buy their parts.

There is no "them" there is only Ray. I personally don't know what he does there other than sell stuff, does he even work on cars??

Anyways, to my knowledge, the Shane Racing "ultimate radiator" is the same thing as the koyo one. The difference is the price.

I'd just get a Koyo radiator from the store, it's the best radiator for the money

I have also heard their customer service is severely lacking when it comes to backing their products...my fluidyne works great for me!!

Count me in that group of feeling like Ray left me hanging. I bought his upgraded twins, PFC, and resonated MP. Got the turbos on and smoked like a BBQ grill on the 4th of July. Called Ray and said he wouldn't take them back since he used all new bearings and seals and that there was no way it could be smoking. I then asked just from him to look them over and if he still thinks they are ok, then I'd deal with it. He still won't take them back and since its past the 90 limit on my credit card, way past, before I put them on a car, I'm stuck like a T-bone steak on the 4th of July.

this is getting interesting.

Sucks tim, what are you going to do about it for now?

I've had many friends who say that ray never took care of them after the sale (but of course kissed their asses before the sale)

i just dont like their prices. . . and the fact that they put their name on every part they sell when it is obviously made by someone else. i find that very lame.

I've since sent the leaky primary to Bryan at BNR to be redone. It was leaking bad enough around the housing seal that when I took it off, burnt crusty oil was all over the housing were the small metal plate hold the compressor side housing and center section to the exhaust side. Right Ray, its not leaking or nothing. After Bryan fixes them, I'm going to sell them since I have since bought and installed the 99 spec turbos I got from Jesse (0 miles) and they don't leak or smoke

Yea, i kinda figured you would come out better that way versus selling them for cheap. It really says alot when someone buys a product from a vendor then has to send it to another verdor to be fixed!!!!!!!

I'm glad I've never bought anything other than a PFC commander from him. I HEARD everyone got screwed back in the day with the Power FC retune for free deal. Some of you guys havent been around long enough to know but back in the day Ray advertised if you bought a PFC from him he would remap it for free when you add on new mods. Well supposedly when people upgraded and called Ray to remap thier PFC for free he told them NO......he said it was only if thier upgraded parts with HIS. Well, I can assure you that he wasnt telling people that when they bought the PFC cause I called him 2x about buying a PFC back then and he never told me it was only good if you bought his parts. That is crooked anyway you look at it and I've never even checked about buying something from Ray since all that went down.

Anyway, I'm sure there is someone one the forum that likes Ray just like Rikki likes Peter, ect, ect. They always have at least one satisfied customer haha. I think Rays customer is ErnieT, ernie is running Rays single set up.

By the way, has anyone on the forum ever had their power fc Dyno tuned by Ray? If not then where the hell is he getting those super rich maps? I called him before and he said he does dyno tuning with power fc, but has anyone ever had their car dyno tuned by him?

To the original question, the "SR Ultimate Rad" IS the koyo. I bought one way back in the day for a substantial premium over a koyo but eventually took the SR sticker off and underneath is koyo imprinted on the radiator. Big rip-off.

I can take a pic of the koyo emblem with sticker glue still stuck to it and i think i still have the receipt if anyone actually needs more proof.

I'll snap pictures tonight for the record. I hope I have the receipt too...though it'll pain me to see it since I remember the price for the rad being $700....

Surprised he is still in buisness, crooked ***.

There's more:

https://www.rx7club.com/questions-about-members-102/thinking-about-ordering-sr-motorsports-shane-racing-ray-lochhead-read-1st-628636/

My car also has an SR-rebranded Koyo, though that was the previous owner's purchase. Just as airborne pointed out, it says "Koyo" under the decal. Plus it's just plain obvious from looking at photos of the two.

I talked to this "Greg" character at SR when demanding a refund for my PPF. I never spoke to Ray (AFAIK), so I couldn't say if it sounds like the same person. He claimed that the PPF was, to the best of their knowledge, a Mazdaspeed. And that was how it came from their dealer in Japan.

Oh yeah, one more thing. After telling him that I spoke to Mazdaspeed, who told me that the real MS PPF is powdercoated, and the one I received was obviously spray-painted, Greg claimed that he didn't know the difference. Ignoring the fact that this is completely false, I'm amazed a vendor would even try to make that claim.
