serpentine belt question

im about to do the sequential vacuum simplification, and as i was taking the air pump off, one of the screws had rusted through and snapped on me. i got the pump off, but im having some trouble getting the screw out. i have read that if you remove the stock cat, and dont have emissions, you can remove the air pump completely. if this is true, has anyone done it, and if so what size belt did you use to replace the current one?

even if you have the stock cat you can take the air pump off, there is a pill valve that prevents air from coming up from the cat.....it will lead to premature failure of the cat thought

if you have a midpipe though, most of them don't come with an adapter for the air pump, some do but why bother leaving that ugly thing in your engine bay.

you MUST have an aftermarket ECU in order to get a midpipe though

since i dont have the funds for the stand alone kit yet, would it be possible to do the simplification, and just either drill out the cat, get a staight pipe made, or wait for it to go then upgrade? would that hurt the performance or the car?

if you decided to get a midpipe without an ECU then the car will run great until you hit that point where the boost spiked too much and you just blew your apex seals out your exhaust but it's up to you

you can do the simplification but you have to leave the stock cats in there until you get an aftermarket ECU, i cannot stress on this enough

do some searches and you'll find out why just putting an exhaust on this car will blow the motor

i believe you man. i appreciate the advice, and i will keep the stock cats in until i get the stand alone kit. i need to save money for the ecu not an engine rebuild.
