Series 7 in a series 6 help!?!?
Has any1 swapped in a series 7 or 8 in their series 6? The reason i'm asking is because I bought a running front clip with amazing compression test readings from montreal jdm. I bought my car with no powertrain, the guy was going to do an ls1 swap and basically cut or wrecked everything in the engine bay.... anyways I put the new engine in with the harness and ran it through the firewall and when I went to plug it in thats when I found out the computers were different, I did some research and found out I had a 98 front clip, I was already going to replace the body harness because the guy put cheap ebay headlights and cut all the plugs related to the lights and everything else in the engine bay...... anyways I was wondering if any1 has run into this also and if they had to change the dash harness and the harness on the firewall behind the dash or am I ok with just replacing the body harness? Thanks

JDM cars dont have the first cat converter up close to the engine (lucky us) but we do still have some emissions equipment.
You could buy a Series 7 PFC and plug that in?
Or you could tear off everything from the Series 7 engine, back to bare block, and put Series 6 loom and stuff onto it.
Series 7 does not have a rats nest of vacuum lines under the UIM. It has a simplified plastic vacuum block with ports on it. The ECU that should go with your Series 7 engine, is a 16-bit ECU.
Thats why the engine loom plugs dont fit. Cant run a Series 7 engine & harness on a Series 6 ECU or vice versa. Something must be modified.
You say you have a 1998 front cut. You're in Canada, and its JDM RHD. You will need a Series 7 ECU to match your engine loom plugs. (Whether PFC or stock 1998 ECU) it will be easier than putting a Series 6 loom onto your 1998 engine, and you gain a PFC
