Series 6(93) vs Series 8 (99) Motors
alright so . I know this is a bit difficult specially on this forum , i tried searching and maybe its my lack of time , and patience but I didnt find what I was looking for .
if someone else does find it I would gladly take a link .
My question is strictly motor wise .
what differences are there between series 6 93-95 compared to the series 8 99-2002 motors .
I know the turbos , I know the rats nest was replaced , I know the ECU is a 16bit .
and the wiring harness would be useless
but what else ? are the coilpacks different ? are the injectors different?
are the sensors different ? is the Oil pressure sensor different since hte 99 specs didnt have an oil pressure gauge ?
would I need to replace every single sensor ? are the plugs on the harness different ?
can i use a series 8 AC compressor? or do I need to replace that ? can i use the Power steering from the series 8? or do I need to use my PS pump as well . what about the alternator??
basically i'm buying a series 8 motor to replace my series 6 . and i want to know what I can keep and what needs to be replaced with parts from the old motor .

for the actual engine block, the 99 has a couple of small updates to the metering system in the rotor housings, which have been available as replacement parts since 1998.
the vacuum system changed to a big vacuum block in 96.
the coils are the same, but due to the vacuum block, they move slightly.
injectors and sensors are all the same 92-2003, except in 99 they loose the fan switch, because the ECU doesn't need it.
the 99+ engines have no oil pressure sensor, just an allen plug.
alt/ps is the same, ac should be too.
the harness is different, 92-95, 96-98 and 99+, big difference is that the ECU changes, so the ECU plugs are different, most of the rest of the connectors are the same, with the exception being the vacuum rack
