Nice pics. You might try shrinking/compressing them a little more and then attaching them into the thread. That way if you decide not to host them after a while, this thread won't be completely useless.

Thanks Mahjik. How would I go about doing so?

And thanks for all of the replies =) I'm glad I was able to bring something to the forum. Makes me feel like less of a nub.

Something like an apex seal. Damn!

I had no intentions of using this turbo, the whole point of the thread is because I'm in the market for a new set and a seller wasn't sure how to take his apart (I wanted to determine the condition of his first).

If you need the pictures compressed to fit on the forum, just PM me and I can shrink them for you.

If you were going to re-assemble those, you would be screwed. You didn't make any reference marks between the parts so you can line them back up...

Of course, final re-assembly wasn't your objective so it's undertsandable that you didn't bother with this step... though it is very important for someone using this as a guide for WG porting or other service.

They can be lined up without marks, though it takes a while. It's a necessary evil if you're having things sandblasted and ceramic coated.

I did a really moderate port on mine. I know i could probably go a tiny bit larger, but, since my twins are now non operable, I figured I wouldn't bother going any larger. Rule of thumb: diameter should be no larger than 1.24" or the way I measured, the flapper should barely make a seal. You really cant screw this one up, unless you go way overboard. I used a stone grinder (from Home Depot for 7 or 8 bucks) on my drill press. On the fastest setting, it took me about 35 - 40 mins. Make sure to thoroughly clean all shavings before reinstalling.

ok whell i never really seen the wastegate for the twins and seeing them now i though there was a lever or something to open the wastegate but in this pic i dont see one.. so does it just open from exhust?

There is a lever. Look at pic A and look at pic B. In A, the arm that is on the outside of the manifold is laying flat, parallel to the flapper door that is closed. in pic B, the arm is still parallel to the flapper door, which is now open.

I can think of no circumstances where it would be necessary to go through that trouble. I marked mine with a rotary tool on non-functional surfaces. Bead blasted the parts, painted with ceramic 1200 deg. paint... then re-assembled with ease.

It just makes sense to mark them first!
