Saw the details and the pics fine. I think the starting price is a little high. Also, what you have is an R1 model. No such thing as "Type R" US models or Type anything. There is a Japan "Type R" but its not really comparable.

You'll also need to smog it again since its been more than 60 days since you last smogged it(stupid DMV regs). BTW, the seats are made of what Mazda calls a suede-like material which is different than the base cloth seats

No, not quite. In the Japan standard line-up since 92 has been what Mazda called a "Type R" model along with other different models over the years like the "Type X," "Type AB," and "Type RS." Roughly, the "Type R" is somewhat of a base+ model. In Japan, there's also been lots of different special limited edition models like the RS-R from '96 and now the different Bathurst models. Kind of like how Mazda has offered special M-edition models in the US.

The Bathurst R is a limited edition model(500) thats based off the "Type R" model. Its correctly called the Type R Bathurst R. Now, it looks like Mazda has stopped offering the Type R Bathurst R and have replaced it with the new Type R Bathurst model. Some of the differences between the Bathurst and Bathurst R is no CF dash and no Sunburst yellow paint option.

Just to be clear:
Type R: standard model car
Type R Bathurst R: special LE car(recently discontinued)
Type R Bathurst: current LE car

R1: standard US model car not to be compared to a Type R(in fact, some R1 model features became standard on the '96-98 RX-7's)

Try looking around a bit for one. Plus, I know of 2 people locally who just sold their cars and what they went through. There's a red R1 listed locally here for $14k and its only got 50k miles compared to the 120k miles of this one. If that one isn't selling for that much, why would this one? Realistically if he wants to sell it, he should offer it for slightly less and see what offers he gets. How much did he buy the car for?

KBB private party value is $11,670 and a $9100 trade-in value for a guide reference. Used cars are also in low demand right now. Lots of finance companies won't even touch such an old car with high miles.

r1 with 50k for 14k

if it runs well it sounds like another great deal. i am only implying that 13.9 is a good price for an r1 with a rebuilt motor trans and turbos if its running well (there's the kicker)
i have test driven so many fd's that have problems. in my area for example theres one selling for 20 with 25k but i test drove it
and it has boost problems and leaks oil. the guy would take 17.5 however but it needs lots of work just to get it back on its feet like probably 2500 and i think that is usually the case because most people do not keep these cars running properly.

First of all, KBB has nothing to do with the market value of an rx7. For instance, look at the Supra TT. I bet a 94 Supra TT in the KBB goes for around $20k for a clean one. If u can find me one for that price with low mileage, then i'll buy a couple of them. There is a high market for Supras and thats why people are asking at least $5000 over KBB prices. Now, u think people are going to sell their Rx7 according to KBB prices? I dont think so. If their is a big market for the car, then people are willing to pay top dollar. That's why Supras and Rx-7's tend to sell at a much higher price than KBB. Also, people who own these kind of cars are enthusiasts and they know what they have. I know it sux when ur the buyer, but everyone has to deal with it. To me, i dont even care what KBB says, it's what someone is willing to pay that matters.
