Self-fabricated intake ducts?

Anyone have these?

How'd you set them up?

Using what materials?

Running from what part of the bumper?

How's it working?

Pics?

I'm looking to fabricate a duct to my intake on a single turbo once I get my engine back and all my peripherals installed.

TIA

It's an A'Pexi intake...or will be once it's installed.

Not that I'm ungrateful or anything, but I'm not sure why it makes a difference what intake I have. I just want ideas on how folks have gone about fabricating their own air flow ducts for "air flow management" from the bumper up to their intake. How exactly does it help you to know what kind?

Ah nevermind. If anyone is still interested in answering any of my questions I'm all ears and very thankful in advance for any ideas or pics.

I have one fabricated to feed my pettit racing intake. I guess with a single turbo you'd have to make the tube go slightly farther into the engine bay but the concept would be the same. I used the end funnel piece of a shop vac hose as the initial part of the tubing. I mounted it in the slot on the passenger side of the front bumper. Then I used tubing that would be used with a pool heater (no ribs, very smooth) and ran that up directly next to the passenger side healight and into the engine bay right there. There is a relatively small hole already there but I drilled mine out so I could fit a pretty big hose through it. It was actually a lot harder than it sounds because there is almost no room to get the hose between the frame and the flip up light. I also have a fabricated cold air box with the intake. My intake temps are far lower then they used to be.

Thanks!

Sounds interesting. I'm replacing my flip-ups with some sleek lights, so hopefully I'll have a little less trouble fitting things through without a motor housing. Then again, maybe not. I'm not sure what kind of clearance issues I'll have with the new lights in there.

How much drilling did you have to do? I don't want to cut anything too much. What's the approximate diameter of your hose?

this is not exactly what you are looking for but this is what I did with my stock intake to get fresh air from the front of the car. I am panning on adding a tube from the second oil cooler opening some time.

The hose is pretty big. I'd say 2 inch diameter. I had to stick it in an oven for a few minutes to heat it up...this let me flatten it out a little so I could fit it past the headlight. That also let me bend it really easily. I had to drill a pretty good amount. Take a look at the hole in the frame tomarrow. Its not really all that big plus its a triangular shape which isn't good for trying to get a tube through. I think the sleek lights might actually give you a little more room. possibly not though. I've also seen a pic of a guy who actually ran his intake tubes all the way out to directly under the flip up lights and had his filters out there. I saw that after I did my set up and was pissed I didn't do his in the first place. There's no way I'm going back and changing it now though.
