Secondary turbo...

I've done my searching and got some info. Anyways my secondary turbo isn't working does that means its dead or is there still some hope? Has nothign to do with boost it just doesnt come in at all. On my search i saw a lot of pple talkign about vacuum lines and couplers would this also be a factor for this problem? Usually when a turbo doesn't work is it fixable like a needle in a tire or is it fucked like a blown engine that needs a rebuild?

Did you only get boost in the higher gears? A turbo control actuator failure usually shows 4-5 psi of boost in the 1st and 2nd gear but at higher load opens up and gives full amount of exhaust needed in the higer gears. Ruffryder says he is getting no boost at all. This may not be a TCA problem if no boost at all is getting achieved.

Ruffryder, do you have a boost guage? Whats your pattern? 10-?-? You're saying you see no boost at all... a failed coupler/slit charge pipe/vacuum/boost hose will not let you boost high in first gear either. Are you achieving full boost in first gear? Read the Twin Turbo Troubleshooting link in the FAW link at the top of this 3rd gen section. Also you can go to www.scuderiaciriani.com/rx7/boost_problems.html . Scroll down to the mid-section and steve wyeen and another guy (forgot how his name was spelled ) will have posted a very long troubleshooting process. As you can see, you need to be more specific with explaining your problem. I am giving you general help in troubleshooting a sec. turbo boost problem.

Jeremy

P.S. You can rebuild your turbos using a general turbo rebuild kit. Though if you have excessive shaft play(which I don't know if this is affecting your problem) you may just need a new set of twins.

Rebuilding the stock turbos usually aren't worth it. BTW more then likely your turbos are fine, if you look around you'll see that many of times people will think that their turbos are bad when it's just another hassle of the stock sequential system. Just look over everything really carefully and replace the vac lines, that should help if not fix the problem entirely.
