i wish mahjik was my personal mechanic, well this is my probelm you guys tell me if it's related or not, i replaced my dead batery with a new kragen barery, after a rev up to 6k rpm my friend looking under the open hood said he saw a blue spark and told me to stop, after that the car was never the same, no boost after 4500-5000 rpm, second gear and third gear seems weak! an rx-7 without boost is like a miata, i'ma start saving money to get this problem fixed, this is really a bugger, hope you fix your problem soon man. Like i said "start saving money" it's a phrase you'll hear a lot more in the future with an rx-7 i'll tell you that much =/

That is the EXACT sound I'm hearing! So maybe Mahjik was right. Is there anyway I can take the solenoid out and test it?

that's what's wrong with my car, or the exact symptom i should say. apparantly it's the solenoid (or something related to it, i physically can move the CCvalve without much effort so i know it's know stuck shut) controlling the charge control valve, the valve that seperates charge air from the primary and secondary turbo in the Y-pipe, and the valve staying closed. the secondary spools into a wall and the sound is probably it spinning backwards or something equally as horrible.

unfourtunatly the solenoid is under the rats nest, which so far has been enough from keeping me alone from fixing it.

Saner,

You should concentrate on the primary first. Start checking your IC couplers and the Y-Pipe coupling for rips or tears. You can't just "eye ball" them. You need to remove them to inspect them.

After that, for the primary boost check your Charge Control system. Everything you need to start checking is on this site:

I also had a similar problem than ended up being a hose that popped off underneath the pressure tank. I believe it was the line that goes between the check valve and the vacuum chamber. The dark green line on the STOCK SEQUENTIAL SET UP on www.turborx7.com site.

Perhaps try to start the car, let vacuum build at idle, turn the car off and disconnect the hose to the vacuum chamber and listen for air rushing in.

Mine was tricky to see because the rubber hose popped off of the metal pipe but rested directly inline with the pipe right above, so at a glance it looked like it was on.

Hope this helps.

Secondary boost problems FIXED!!

FINALLY! After months of on and off troubleshooting my secondary boost problem, I finally fixed it! Turned out to be the Charge Control Actuator.

Thanks to all that offered advise and help! Secondary boost feels great!

Congrats champ! I think many of us are in troubleshooting mode.

What exactly was wrong with the CCA? And can you give us some indication of what your overall boost pattern was before?

Good for you.

Last week Paul at AIM Tuning found a bad check valve in mine.

Guys, I merged the new thread with the old one. That way if anyone searches on this topic, they have the problem and the fix, together.

The CCA wasn't holding any pressure in chamber B (see attached pic). I would push in the rod, place my finger over the nipple and the rod would just pop back out. I normal functioning CCA would hold the rod in until you let go of the nipple. Basically it was a leaky CCA. I bought one for $12 shipped (thanks Heath), popped it in, now I'm back to the good ol' 10-8-10 pattern.

Prior to the replacement, my pattern was 10, then once it passed 4500rpm it would drop to 0 and make some weird quick whining noise when I let off the accelerator, and sometimes a low pitch "booooo" sound under acceleration. If I let off the accelerator, then back on, I wouldn't even get primary boost until I either pushed in the clutch, or just gradually let the rpms go down.

I hope this helps out some of you that are having secondary boost problems. This is the website that helped me troubleshoot. I'm sure most of you have seen it. http://www.autosportracetech.com/RX-...leshooting.htm

Good luck!

Did your dodgy CCA pas the KOKO test? I got secondary issues as well, but my CCA passes the KOKO test. Just trying to iron out all possibilities.

Yes it passed. The vacuum from chamber A was holding the arm in, so it seemed like a functioning CCA. When I removed the hose from chamber B and tested the vacuum, that's when it showed malfunction.

Interesting!

I was expecting the leak to be between chambers A and B, but it sounds like the leak was from chamber B to the outside world. I'll test this one as soon as I can.

Cheers Bud
