Seats for a tall rider
Anyone know of either a mod to somehow lower the stock seats in an FD for a taller rider, or a specific seat (aftermarket) that is designed for taller riders to lower the seat height that also has the adjustable back? I'm 6'2'' and I'm not uncomfortable in the car, but an extra inch of head room would be a little more comforting. I'd rather stick with the stock seats if possible.

I wanted to do the same thing to make room for a helmet (I've been driving at the track with my head cocked sideways...) I bought a cheap used (very used!) R1 driver's seat to see what could be done by removing the foam. It is not too difficult to disassemble the seat, and you do indeed gain about an inch. You definitely lose some comfort though, as the sides of the seat squeeze in a bit more.
Instead of just shaving all the foam across the bottom, I dug out several deep pockets to reduce the amount of foam to support my weight, but still left "walls" of foam that are full depth. The net result is a sort of honeycomb, with the theory being that the remaining full depth sections help the seat spring back to normal shape. It seemed to work. While I was at it, I also added some extra foam to the back for additional lumbar support.
Frankly, I am not sure I just wouldn't have been happier just buying a Kirkey road race seat, but I did preserve the stock look. I'll leave it this way for a few months and see how it goes. I probably have a Kirkey in my future.
