Seat swap

Hey guys, I'm considering picking up a cherry 94 R2 from a guy. I was looking specifically for an R2 because of the lack of a sunroof (I'm tall, hate when my head hits) and no Bose system (I like to roll my own). The drawbacks are lack of leather and no cruise. I know cruise is no problem as I've installed those before, but I've never swapped seats. Is it much trouble to swap leather seats as long as I keep the rails off the cloth seats? Is it possible to find decent leathers for $1000-1500 for the pair and where should I look?

Thanks!

If you could get the cruise to work then the seats will be very simple. Most people sell the leather seats with rails for about $500-600.

Or you could just trade me your cloth seats for your leather ones, as long as they are in the same condition.

Out of curiosity, when you say "cloth" you mean "suede" right? because if it has cloth seats, it's not an R2 (not that it matters a whole lot).

... and, to add to that, the suede seats seem to be more sought-after thn anything else... you might want to hang on to them.

that being said, if you're going to buy new seats and want to sell the old ones, let me know - if they're suede, that is. (and if you don't trade them with billyrohm)

ATLgator, have you gotten a chance to sit in both an r model FD and a touring model yet? I have sat in both, and did NOT notice a significant difference in headroom. The sunroof doesn't take that much space. Since you are tall, I would recommend sitting in both before deciding. After all the R2 models are more rare, which makes them harder to come by in good to excellent condition, and more expensive. I'd try it out personally, before I wrote a bigger check.

I'm going to tell you this......You will love the "R" seats way better then the leather ! The R seats are kinda a fake suede material..and they hold you in with spirited driving.. The smooth leather seats will have you sliding around like a dummy. I hated the touring leather so bad..within a week they where GONE !
