what HP#'s, 1/4 times with these mods?
Hey Everybody,
I was wondering what 1/4 times a 3G RX7 would run with these mods. If I messed up the terminology its cause I dont own an RX7 yet (I want one too). I just want to know what these cars are capable of. HP numbers and 1/4 times
from what I understand a stock FD does 13.9 in the 1/4 mile, not sure if thats right though. Also I bought Mike Ancas' Mazda RX7 Performance Handbook to help me learn the special needs of a rotary.
these are on stock sequential turbos, stock boost level, stock engine and street tires:
-Reliability mods (ziptie vacuum lines, fan mods etc)
-Aluminum air separator tank
-Silicon vacuum hoses
-Apexi N1 Exhaust
-Downpipe
-Upgraded intercooler, aluminum piping,
-Upgraded radiator
-Intake?
-Higher flowing fuel pump, bigger injectors (inj's needed?)
-piggyback or standalone (which one) Haltech, DFI, Apexi
-upgraded clutch
BTW what is the Stock boost for a FD? If I missed anything please let me know.
TIA

depends on boost and engine condition etc...but guessing 300rwhpish and touching 12s in the quarter maybe 110mph on street tires. the stock cat hurts that setup the most...

I'm almost certain that this wont pass CA smog though huh? I will be going to the drag strip pretty often, what safety equipment would I need? schnell? helmet, rollcage?

What it seems like a lot of people do is run a mid pipe and swap a cat on for emissions. there are hi flo cats available-they're pricey but make a difference. my n-tech works well, louder, more power, and still passes emissions...barely in PA.
As for safety, it differs from track to track. Running 13s at most tracks you just need a helmet and long pants. Helmet should have a recent SNELL rating. Your safety requirements are based on speed. Dunno what level requires a cage.
Umm...I don't know which are the best apex seals but i'm pretty certain it ain't the stock ones. Hurley race seals have got some good reviews.
Some like 3mm over 2mm...then there's ceramic...hey whatever floats your boat.
But yeah if everything is in good shape and tuned right at like 12-13lbs of boost a decently reliable 300rwhp is doable which should get you into the upper 12s on street tires. my setup got me 13.2 at 106 with a 60ft of like 2.1 or somethin crappy like that. And my clutch was probably slipping in the top of 3rd ...and it was like 100degrees out...
Practice will help a ton...a short shift kit ($200-$300) may knock a tenth or so off...
