screaming belt syndrome

hey guys my car belts scream at start up. i took off my tensioner and cleaned the bearing it seemed fine and didn't make any noise when i spun it. do you think the a/c compressor is to blame. if so, does it need to be rebuilt or is there a spot to grease it up anything will help thanks.

I had the same issue once, I changed the belts and it only lasted for a month. What fnally worked was switching out pullies, for the Greddy underdrive set. Good luck!

I used some spray lithium grease on the tensioner pulley bearing to stop mine from making noise. It took several sprays while it was running and then I shut off the engine sprayed some more right into the bearing area and started it back up and the squeak was gone. Then wipe of the excess from the pulley and you are set to go.

On my car it was easy to know it wasn't the ac compressor as I have removed that.

my idler pulley is my squeaky culprit aswell. lubing it up is only a temporary solution. the right belt tension is more key, i adjust my belt with the car running until the squeak disapears. its a little risky though and is the reason i only have 9.5 fingers...jk lol

Two factors will cause the noise, 1) belt too tight, 2) bearing in pulley.
