Angry Scramble boost not working on AVC-R

I have been trying to set the scramble boost mode on my AVC-R and it does not seem to respond when I press the optional button. I installed a momentary push button and connected the orange wire and the black wire exactly as stated in the manual. I modified the settings as best I could understand the instructions; it is very vague on how it works.

My question is, has anyone had any luck setting it - or problems?
also, how do you know that it is on when you push the button - there seems to be no indication that it is in scramble mode?

thanks,
Tim

In the Sensor Check screen, you can see if it's registering the switch - that will eliminate any wiring problems or switch problems.

Go to Etc-Sensor Check. You'll see TPS voltage and MAP sensor voltage, along with SCSW=OFF. The "SCSW" is scramble switch.

The orange wire from the AVC-R need to be connected to a momentary contact switch, the other end of the switch to ground. You don't want a switch that flips on (like a light switch) just one you touch and let go.

Ok. I see that - it says OFF
but it can not be switched ON and when I press the monetary button nothing changes
I have it connected exactly how the instructions describe, not sure why it does not work

got it figured out, thanks Dale
when I ohm tested my brand new button from Radio Shack, there was very high resistance when pushed. when I touched the orange and black wires together the SCSW went to ON, just like Dale said
so I replaced the button and now it works
