SCC Ultimate Street Car Challenge
Every year I look at the entries, and I'm allways dissapointed at the lack of FD's. I know there are some FD's on the forum that would do well in if not win the Sport Compact Car Ultimate Street Car Chalenge.
If you are not familiar with the contest: "To win a car has to rule every arena of performance. It will have to be wickedly fast on the track, yet versatile enough to cruise the streets in comfort. It will have to look as fast as it goes and be engineered well enough to impress our field of judges."
I think last year a Supra won The year before that a Viper, and the year before that a 360.
I see so many sweet, well rounded FD's on the forum. I know if we all voted we could vote a nice FD in. Anyway, just a thought.
You have to enter by 12-31!

i am pretty sure you have to buy the mag and mail it in in order to vote.
to submit a car for the contest, you have to submit a photo with some info on your car, etc. it is probably too late for this challenge, but I am not sure about that. I would definitely vote for an FD

Either Petit or PFS has won, or came in like second, with a 3 rotor fd before. I believe PFS is entering their IS300 now instead of the fd.

The FD that won, I think was a car "tuned" by Tri-Point Engineering (although I could be wrong as it has been a couple of years).

I know that several years ago, Hung-Jen's yellow FD had won the challenge by a really good margin. I don't have the actual numbers, but I remember seeing the stats and noticing that he had dominated in almost every category. I used to see him quite a bit at local autocrosses down in socal.

You're thinking of another mag contest... i believe it was a "tuner shootout" by Motor Trend or somebody like that.

There is a car called the Viking SRX7 which is a custom chasis open-wheel car with the 13BREW. He claims 450hp+ with less than 2200lbs weight. It's an old guy who probably doesn't know how to drive for ****. Also, the car is fugly...but it's superfast.

DomFD3S is right, a black 94 by Tri-point won in '01 of SCC mag's G-Force Challenge. I don't know if this is the same as the Ultimate Street Car Chalenge or not. But the RX-7 really mopped-up the competition, winning over many cars with $thousands$ more in mods, including 2 Supras, an ITR, a Cosworth, a Porsche, a WRX, and some others.
volley1 is also right. A 3-rotor by PFS got second in the Super Tuner Challenge by Car and Drive in '01.
I have both mag articles.

The G-Games thing is different from the Ultimate Street Car Challenge. The G-Games was I believe a one time event sponsored by BFGoodrich where all of the cars were put on g-Force T/A KD tires and tried to record the highest performance in assorted handling tests.
The Ultimate Street Car Challenge is a yearly thing in which readers submit their cars and then the entrants are voted on by the readers of the magazine. The top 10 or so cars are then tested in assorted measures of performance like acceleration, road course times, the "grandma test" (streetability), etc. The tough part is that the idiot readers of SCC get to decide who makes it to the actual competition. Which is why in past years there have been such competitors as full-on show competitor ITRs, an AW11 MR2 with the HKS twin charger (s/c and turbo) kit, and an awd turbo automatic Hyundai Tiburon that accomplished awd by adding a second drivetrain in the trunk.

Don't get me wrong I'm not a fan of bs body kits and wings either.
Anybody who plans on entering this contest should lobby for support on the forums, if they are serious about getting voted in.
