Scammed by a member of the board

So, I don't want to go dragging any names through the mud (yet). But it seems that I've been ripped off by a member of the board.

I replied to a member about an item posted in the classifieds, negotiated a price and promptly paid. A few days later I was told the item had shipped.

I waited 3 weeks (item was coming from europe) before I PM'd again looking for an update. I was fed a pretty weak story about the mail being temporarily on hold but it should ship out soon (yet I was already told it had been put in the mail).

I've PM'd a few more times since this, but I have not received any replies. I did check to see that this member has logged on to the board since my messages were sent, so I'm assuming they were received.

Should I "out" this person?

Yes. In the good guy/bad guy section. Start a thread with all details and go from there. IF the member wants to keep selling parts on this forum, they will have to make right. Also, start a claim through paypal (i am assuming payment method) before its been 30 days.

Sadly PayPal has a 45 day limit on disputes. Tomorrow will be a full two months since I paid....

Did you pay through paypal with a credit card?

if so you can file a chargeback with the credit card company and they will deal with paypal themselves.

I wish I had, I usually do but for some reason this time I went straight from the account.

C'est la vie.
