diffrent states have diffrent laws into what kind of title you get back. just find out before you buy it. if they dont give back clean titles you may be getting yourself into problems and have to wait to register it. i would buy it if they give back a clean title. insurance companies dont always total out a car because it is wrecked bad. if the owner wants it totaled they can fight to get it totaled.

also a new york salvage rebuit title would have to get inspected again if you wanted to register it in florida. each state needs to inspect the car. they mainly look for stolen parts.
i have a ? for you rotary. i have a rebuilt title so what would happen if i took it to another state and register it there and then took it back to my state would i get a CLEAN title back or BS lol thanks

depends on what state. if you took it to GA you would have to get it inspected there too. and then you would get a clean title back. ppl try to do it all the time, its called TITLE WASHING. but they wont inspect ur car with an out of state licence. i put my car in my friends dads name. your state will never know it was salvaged. i had a clean GA title and registered the car in NY and now i have a CLEAN NY title.

My sister had a Saab here in NY with a salvage title. She moved to Cali and got it registered there and what do you know, clean title. I assume if she ever brought it back here it would be issued a clean title since the previous one didn't have any signs of "salvage."

A salvage title means that at some point there was an accident and the insurance company quoted the repair at more than what they valued the car. It does not mean that the car is junk or that you will have problems with it. Ask for receipts for the repairs. Make sure you know what a salvage title and what a rebuild title is. A salvage title still means that you have to get the car inspected, once you do (assuming it passes) you get a rebuild title.

Some people do hack jobs repairing the cars and that is something to watch out for. BUT, that is true for any car that has been repaired, not just cars with salvage/rebuild titles. One thing to remember about these cars is that parts are outrageous, a minor accident can total one out pretty easy. A very minor accident to the front end can easily total more than $5,000+ in parts alone.

Here is are some pictures of my RX7 (with rebuild title). All work was done by a Mazda bodyshop using genuine mazda parts. I shaved over $6,000 off the repair estimate by getting some used parts from people on the forum (intercooler, airbox, radiator fans, headlight assemblies, and a few other parts that make no difference if they are new or used) Plus I put in a fluidyn radiator because it was less than a new stock one from Mazda:

There is allways CARFAX..... Now days the average Joe runs a CARFAX report before buying a used car...... You cant hide a salvage title from CARFAX...

It was like that when I bought it. I read that the paint fades at different rates on the bumpers because its a different material? It isn't quite that obvious in person though, it shows up more in the pictures. Not sure, but the damage was to the front - I wish I had a bigger pic of the front end than the one I posted. But, the car is definitly in better condition now then it was before the accident.
