you can only get liability insurance and that will still be hard to get.

no. they're insured like any other car at every level; liability/comprehensive/full coverage. at least here in CA

be careful for ones that have been in bad accidents, flooding

Full coverage will only depend on the company you use to insure the car. It's salvage so it'll be hard to get full coverage. Some companies will have a age minimum on the driver, and if you do get full coverage expect it to be a pretty penny. Liability is most common with salvage cars. I would do a background check and see the reason for a salvage title. It could be either theft recovery, flooded, accident related, and so on. My first car i ever purchased was salvage, and I will never do that again. I speak from experience with insuring a salvage car with full coverage.

Call your insurance company. Also find out if it's a salvage title or a salvage rebuilt title. Both exist in Texas.

depends on your state. here in GA the average joe cannot buy a salvage titled car, needs to be purchased by and rebuilt by a certified repair shop. after its fixed it goes with receipts for all parts and photos of in process repairs and gets inspected by the state ($250) PRIOR to exterior paint being applied and a "georgia salvaged rebuilt" title is issued and you can sell or drive it like any other, after its been painted, presumably.

It is very much insurance company dependent. It is also worth noting that many companies will not finance cars with a salvage title (particularly 15-year-old ones), which may be an issue when buying and selling.

you can get insurance. but the car will be worth about 1/2 of its value with a salvaged title so keep this in mind.
