I am keeping everything on this car stock as much as possible. But the stock lights were dismal. Its been a long time since I drove any car with such bad lights, let alone such a potent sports car.

First thing I did was install an HID kit. The difference was night and day. But the problem was the high beams were no different and the lights shone everywhere! The hid kit was 428$.

When I saw these, I thought it was a no-brainer. Went for it immediately. The product is top-notch. The ballasts are really solid looking and very small in size. Everything was perfect. When I installed them and lit them up, the difference was AGAIN night and day from the HID kits I had installed before. Even though the HID kits produced a lot of light, but these kits made the visibility so much better: so much more usable light, not light everywhere! And there were high beams too!

And the customer service and all around behavior of Dan and the team are just fantastic, which alone is enough to buy from them.

Thanks guys for making such a wonderful product.

She also doesn't mind spending money when it's worth it and when she went out for a drive at night with me she even thought it was money well spent.
I've only owned my FD for maybe 3 years and been driving it for 1 but one of my biggest let downs, which may actually be the only one, was the **** poor lighting. If you put things in perspective these lights are a great price and if you can afford them you should most definitely get them while you can. From a customers perspective what Heath said is not a sales pitch but the god honest truth. I personally feel the GB price is extremely fair. Look at the prices of most other options out there, then compare their functionality to these. I bet you find these are one of the best deals out there. I got these purely for the lighting upgrade and was happy that I got to keep the pop ups. There was another set of lights I stumbled onto that I considered from the forum but once I compared the pricing of the two costs, halogens and HID, there was no question. These lights cost about the same as the halogens of the other one's and hundreds less than their HID version. As soon as Heath pm'd me that I could get into the second batch of the first group I sent the money with no hesitation.
Bottom line is these are a great product at a great price and these guy's are great to deal with. No one should be driving around dark roads with stock lights, it's kinda dangerous. I can't explain my satisfaction with these lights. If you haven't seen them in person try and find someone that has them so you can see them in person I guarantee any question you have will be answered and you'll be ready to get your set.

Nice, I really like those night shots!

I was wondering, though, if there are any new pictures taken for the regular lens?? I am curious about the clarity of the regular lens versus the projector one.

I'm loving it though!

I really don't want this thread to get off topic, but here are the pictures/vid comparing them. If anyone wants to talk about stock vs sonar housings or the possibility of having us do stock housings, lets take it to a new thread or PM .

Thank you for taking the time to make that video. There is a considerable difference between the two. And I am glad I am in on the second group buy.

Since this is a review thread I would like to say that the reason i did not buy these light the first time around is that they are alot of money and if I was going to spend that amount on headlights I wanted to see them in person and compare them to my stock ones. When I went to deals gap, I went with scrub and goodfella once it got dark and they turned on their lights I was immeadtely sold on buying them. Like someone else said if you are not shure if you want these lights GET THEM! The amount of light these lights give off is AMAZING the difference is like comparing a black hole to the sun.. It truely is unbelieveable.

I have yet to install mine (and it wont be operational for another 2 years due to military training and such) but the headlights themselves look to be nicely built and I am very happy with my purchase just based off the build quality. Seeing more and more pictures of the lights in action is just sealing the deal for me on feeling like I made a great purchase.

And theorie... I'll probably have to get a set of those tails too.... once I get the money (wedding, training... blah blah blah sob story bs. ;-) )

John
Unfortunately Rich didn't have his lights aimed correctly at that point and we got the "Sun" directly in our side/rear view mirrors I am happy to report we have since aimed his lights properly.

^ Lol yea that is right. When I was infront of him it was really bad. I thought I was dieing or something. And I had seen " the light".

I would like to add that when I was infront of you when looking in my mirrors it was like two small "orbs" of light and there was MUCH less of a glare then if an fd with stock lighting was behind me. I would even say no glare, I could look in my mirrors and my eyes would not have to adjust at all.

I really am excited I am in on the second group buy.. Ever since i saw these lights in person, when ever i drive at night I kick myself for not buying them sooner.

Red Dragon that is a GREAT review!!!

I have to say I agree on everything you said. Here are a few things that stand out in my mind:

1) For those of us who got the first batch of kits, the ground wires are too short to really work with so do yourself a favor and lengthen them before you take a crack at deciding your placement. (Thank you Sakebomb for listening to the feedback and extending the wires for the new kits.)

2) As with any electronic part, find a good grounding point. You will be happy you spent the time to ground it properly when your lights turn on in your first try. (My driver side is mounted to the main fuse box and passenger side to the frame.)

3) Follow Step 8 in the installation instructions and change your spring tab out to the one off of your OEM housing. (The one on the new housing is cheaper and will pop off.)

4) I decided to use professional velcro to secure the ballasts along with zip ties. It let me take them on and off while I decided to move the wiring around. (For other reasons I also have to move my wiring again so this will save me from ripping out any foam tape.)

5) If your car is lowered...do yourself a favor and lift the car on to jack stands or ramps. Your back will appreciate it.

6) Take your TIME! I have installed "HID" kits before and it still took me a couple of hours between pulling my old kit out and planning my wiring placement.

I would rate the light output even better than my BMW. I also agree the cutoff takes a bit of getting used to because it is so sharp.

I originally saw this kit in person while driving the backcountry roads in PA. There is no doubt I could have shut off my headlights while following Scrub in my 7, in the middle of the night. (His kit actually lit the road up enough for both of us to see.) LOL

My ratings:

Performance, 9/10. Amazing. The cut-off will take time to get used to.
Installation, 7/10. Planning out wiring takes a lot of time!! Especially since each car has a different set-up.
Aesthetics, 10/10. If you like the pop-up look you cannot get better.
Build Quality, 10/10. No way I would have thought of any better product build. The product you receive goes will beyond this price point, for sure. The time and detail in building these units is apparent. A+++ Job, Mariah and Heath!!!

Along with the adorable kitty stickers on my package, I even got a photo of my build courtesy of Scrub…I am saving this for warranty purposes in the future LOL!

Here's a link to the last round of lights we'll be doing as we want to finally move on to other projects. This last GB should be closing in a couple weeks tops. -Heath

Not trying to push them, but just want to give you a heads up, this may be the last time they are available. They are really labor intensive to make and we just don't have enough time with all of the other projects going on

i just installed these, and my brights stay on, whether I turn them on or off, the light inside the car for "brights" is on

I mounted the red wire from the kit to the positive terminal battery

Does it matter where I mount the 2 black grounding wires?

also, since I had to unplug the right(passenger side) 3 port connector-to-bulb from the stock headlight housing, I just have it tucked away.

Not sure what to do here
