Saddest day of my life.
I didn't think I would ever do it, but I sold my FD, Rika today. I never thought I would actually cry to let go of that car. I'm single with a 2 bed, 2 bath, 2 car garage house. I had the house for the car lmao. It was the wife I never had and seeing her leave is like seeing a child of my own leave home and move on to a new life. Truly a moment that has moved me.
So much time, effort, money and only a little bit of swearing went into what I made that car. I'll truly miss, and nothing would and will ever replace Rika. She was sold because I desire to do other things in my life. I'm still in my mid-twenties and I want go other places and even change my military carreer to something more adventurous. I know I wouldn't be able to have my car with me all the time like I do now and I never was able to fully enjoy it. My only regret is I never lived out my dream of driving her on a road course.
Have any of you ever felt truly touched to see your car go? All the bonding moments, random drives at day or night. The sheer excitement of pushing the car to it's designed and engineered limits. The feeling of being one with your car. It really felt like an extension of myself. Ahh, good times. I got no intentions of leaving the forum. It's a forum after all =D Love this community.
Good day to you all and have a great Halloween weekend!!

I had to sell mine about 12 years ago. Was mid-twenties. Lost my job, couldn't afford the car payments.
I"m now married with a 3 bedroom house, 2 car garage and my awesome wife let me by another RX7 a few weeks ago.
So moral of the story is, if you're young, be young and go live life, you'll find another 7 again someday when the time is right.

Ill never sell this car. I get attached to things very easy. Cars, girls etc lol
I guess if its a life threatening situation or i completely lose interest in the car, then ill sell it. Otherwise its with me til i die.
I do love other cars as well and i hope to add to the collection. An indoor garage is probably the main reason i wont get a supra or a C6Z.
When i had my talon, i did cry the night i sold it. I only had it for about 13 months but it was my baby at the time. It was reliable, fun to drive and at the time, my first real stick car i had to drive everyday. I had other stick cars but cars i would barely drive and/or got rid of fast. My talon was my first "toy" i ever had.
When i drove it to the guys house (my dads friend), i remember taking off the license plates and literally having tears in my eyes. Luckily for me it was night time so my dad or my dads friend didnt know i was crying lol.
But its all good cause i sold the car with the intention of getting the FD
After i sold the talon i saved up more money and 14 months later, i got my FD

I know your pain. The military had a lot to do w/me selling mine. I made the same MISTAKE four years ago and it took me FOUR long years to find another one. I even put a LARGE price tag on it thinking that if it sold I could buy two used ones if I wanted. The tactic didn’t work because it sold quick. I searched every day and was ready to do a total rebuild from scratch. I got lucky and found my dream FD. 94 Chaste White w/RED seats and carpet, Bose system, a glass sunroof and COMPLETLY STOCK with only 63,000 miles!!
You have made a BIG decision but be aware there will be A LOT of withdraws and pains. Be patient and you will come across another one.

I would never sell my FD. The FD is the absolute last thing I would sell that I have. After getting the FD, all of my other hobbies withered away. Now I want to be burried in my car when I die...with a car cover over it and a few coats of wax of course.

Perfectly put. It's just a car. You'll get over it and be surprised how little you actually miss it in just a short time. I too get really attached to things and have, over the years, had this or that car or boat or gun, etc that I always claimed, "I will NEVER sell this!!!!" but on occasion, have. And you know what? The world didn't stop turning, the sun came up in the east the next day, and I survived it.
As you get older, material things take on less importance, reality tends to slap you upside the head a little harder, and you understand that making the right decisions for the time/circumstance is what is important.

after a while you may realize that some things are more important than a machine that you use only a short time of your days, that can be replaced.
the most difficult thing for me when building something, is, when you sell it you will lose a chunk of the amount of money and time you put into it.

You're right, there are definitly more important things in life but my FD is easily my most unique material possession. The other stuff I have I just sort of bought. With the FD, there was planning, sacrifice and waiting. Better spending money on my car than out drinking all the time anyway. An accord is a car you can just buy. My FD is the end result of the investments and sacrifices I have made and in the end, its more than just another possession to me. I think life is to short to not be gung ho about your passions.

Sucks that you had to sell, I'm surprised the military was a reason behind it though, unless you'd gotten a ****-ton of tickets, and your Chain told you to get rid of it "or else"..
I picked up mine after my first re-enlistment and have sunk WAY too much time and effort into it since then to consider selling. I've had her through three deployments and two continents, that's more than I can say for any woman so far! lol. Luckily the female I have now told me, point blank, she'd kick my *** if I ever got rid of the FD because she knows how much it means to me.
Don't worry man, you'll get back into it if you're meant to. And not to be concerned... going with a more "exciting" career path offers better advancement and better pay, which can be funneled toward another FD if you so choose ;-)

I don't see how my daily driver makes a difference, lol. In that regard a car is just a car, I just picked one with 4 doors, some *****, and a few creature comforts this time around ^_^
But yes, as an 8 year E-6 in an "adventurous" career path with the military I get pretty decent pay ;-) it wasn't always that way though, hell... 18 months ago I only had the FD and a broke *** Peugeot =P
Either way, to the OP, sucks to hear about the loss =(

It makes a huge difference when you think about it.
Some people dont have the luxury/space/time/money etc of owning an FD AND another "fun" car to daily drive. I think thats why most people wont get rid of their FD's, its because if only drive it on occasion, they would have nothing to look foward to when the time comes TO drive it.
Like me, i only drive my car on the weekends, sometimes during the week if i have time and if i sold it, i would have nothing to play with on the weekends. During the week i always think about the weekend because i look foward to those couple of hours i get to drive it. Whether its alone or cruising with a couple of buddies.
Now if i can find a damn garage locally, i can store the FD there and get a nice fun daily driver. Something i wouldnt mind parking on the street since i dont have a driveway for my daily driver. Until then, i am stuck with a boring 06 altima, although very reliable and still brand new because it has low miles, is not the type of car i wanna be driving. I dont even have a damn family lol

If the objectively smart thing to do was to sell it.... to afford to college, pay bills, buy a house or any number of more important things and you weren't smart enough to recognize that on your own, hopefully someone close to you would be.
It's just a car.
