If you can't afford to wreck it, you shouldn't own it.

I think the OP said he was gonna pay the loan off in a year... difficult feat, but doable. Not sure if he had full coverage. Also, I would probably debate having the insurance pay for it as well, because I wouldn't want a wreck on my record.

I really don't see the big deal about 10k anyway. 10k ain't ****. Go wreck a Porsche, Mercedes, BMW, Ferrari, whatever, and see how much $$$ you're gonna drop...

why O why are FD owners cheap bastards ?!

You're incorrect, he's pretty funny and quite smart actually. Some people just don't know how to laugh.

Definitely sucks to park the car on a tree. Good luck with whatever you decide to do. If you have some sort of emotional attachment to your car in particular then I can understand keeping it I guess.

Hmm... I had red badges on my Lightning Yellow RX-8.... Tom, I might have to smack you around at DGRRX.

Regarding insurance vs. paying 10K.

I'm sorry, but if the damage was at 10K and you had full insurance, the insurance will definitely totaled that car.

What I would of done would be to claim as totaled car, get the cash, buy back the car, look for another insurance company, fix the yellow rhd if you have some special attachment to it.... But I would of just bought another rhd FD with the money you get from the insurance. But I highly doubt your insurance will go so high that its worth taking 10K loan and also pay 8% interest.

apparently you forgot that this is an internet forum.

**** man i've effed up my fd before, and laughed about it afterwards. lets see one time i slid it into a curb and destroyed two of my rims. womp womp. oh and one time i hit an armadillo at 60mph, which destroyed my front end and left rodent guts all over my engine bay. yeah that was fun.

**** happens. the kid slid off the road and into a tree. if he wants to fix it, he can go ahead an get it fixed.

i still don't understand taking out a 10k loan instead of filing an insurance claim. thats why you buy insurance...

also claiming he had his own credit card at 14 years old was cute.

We used to motorcycle on that road before it became "famous"...now it's crawling with every hick, ricer and squid from all over the place, can you even get over 70 mph on it now (if that)?

I prefer little known NC mountain roads for 140+ blasts on the almighty ZX-10R (endless switchbacks get old fast anway) with no cops and far less traffic....these roads will remain known to only a few...I'll be there Easter weekend

Yeah, I let Ronald drive that thing as he gave me a big mac and biggie fries as I followed him through the dragon with my cosmo. He's a shitty driver but he loved the Yellow and Red RX8

That was a beautiful car. Hope it works out.
Word. Thank you. I'm used to the online haters though. Funny thing is that they're always the ones with crappy FD's.
