rx7 vs Supercharged Mustang GT

Ok guys, I currently own a 2002 Mustang GT 20K miles, but im looking to sell my car and get a 7. If i kept my car i was going to supercharge it, giving it about 400 hp. Now, if i got a 7, what would it take as in hp and $$$, to get around that or be able to beat that. Please be honest. Thanks

A stock 04 Cobra has about 400 hp at the engine. An FD will need around 300 at the wheels to be close.

Depends on what's not much lol...

Prices vary on what you buy (used, new, low quality, name brand) . This is a GROSS aproximation BTW.

Full exhaust, $600 - $800
CAI, $200 -$450
IC, $600- $1400
higher boost (boost controller) $200 - $450
and a ECU upgrade. $400 - $1200
Tune $250 - $500

You don't need 400hp in a 7 to smoke a 400hp gt. Big weight differences. 320-350rwhp could probably be enough. As far as money, it's hard to tell. You prob will blow the engine if you're digging for power and it really just adds up after that. I say make your life easy and supercharge your Mustang.

Edit: Why the hell did you post this a second time 30 minutes after your first thread? Makes me want to take my advice back.

Plus you have to keep in mind a high hp Stang is a great drag car, but FD's are a bit more. With it's 50/50 weight distribution and suspension, I think you'd be able to take corners at speeds you'd never do in a Mustang....... Just my $0.02.

also keep in mind that the 7 weighs about 400lbs less than the stang, so you wont need as much power as the stang to be as fast as the stang

i'd 2nd this. assuming a strong motor and otherwise sound vehicle.

Manual boost controller: $20-100. Since he's asking for bang/buck.

If hes wanting the best bang for his buck, they in that case... I got a great shape cat back for 200. I got a Great shape used DP for 100. Then just hallow out the cat and you have a full exhaust for 300. I got my apexi intake for 175 brand new from somebody off the forum. Boost controllers can be made for around 20. I got my ecu for 350 with no tuning needed.

Grand total-$1145. But I did need lots of little extras to get the car working...This is just those performance parts.

I had a 94 cobra with 502 rwhp @ 15 psi, then a 408 cid @ 22 psi...est. rwhp was 650...never like it. Can't drive anywhere without overheating in Texas.

Like my FD much better...

Most important thing is:

FD = Good taste & rarity
Mustang = Everybody got one...and I meant everyone!
