WA rx7 runnung waaaay to hot! help

my rx7 is lighting paper on fire when i put it near the exhaust pipe and my ast is boiling hot. i recently put a apex pfc in my fd and the manual aid to cut 4 wires from the wiring harness that were for extra emissions devices that werent on the j-spec fd's and need to be cut for the pfc to work properly. the map sensor vac-lane kept popping off but i fixed that and the old spark plugs were completly black(and they were brand new) so i replaced those to and now the car idles at 2500 and runs realy hot
. the only mods it has are fmic intake and cat back exhaust. it has an exhaust leak i believe thats between the headers and the down pipe

What temps are you seeing on the PFC? Do your fans come on...and at what temp?

The idle seems like a separate issue...probably related to installation of the PFC, but secondary to running hot.

If your temp gauge is half way up I think your ok, but then again, that gauge is not very reliable. You should always be checking your PFC. I like to keep the car in the high 80s but its ok to run it hotter. I think 110 is catastopic.

PFC's have an idle learning process you have to complete before it will control the idle. Do a search for it.

High idle = high temp.

concentrate on fixing the idle as long as the PFC tells you its not going over ~110c. any hotter and your coolant seals may get permanently damaged.

As mentioned above, pay NO attention to the stock gauge.
Start the car cold and watch your PFC monitor screen for water temp. Note when the fans come, note fan speeds and watch to see whether the fans are effective at stabilizing them. If you get past about 110 C. and it's still rising I'd shut it off.

The factory thermoswitch is like 105 or 108c, I cant remember. If it gets to 110 though, it likely is going to keep going up.

Better park it until you get it resolved. Invest in an aftermarket temperature gauge also for a 2nd reference.

Idling at 2500 will make the engine and exhaust really hot, even if everything else is OK. That generates a huge amount of exhaust and engine heat. I'm not saying that nothing else is wrong, but, IMO, you need to solve the high idle before you go further in the diagnosis.
