RX-7 store DP
downpipes are always an *** to install... especially since you cant see one of the bolts... it takes time... be patient... you dont want to break one of the studs off as like i did...
had to take out the turbos to replace...

yep, spray it down (i mean litterally hose it down) with pblaster, and let it soak in for at least 20-30 minutes if not overnight
oh and you might want to replace the studs/nuts with hex bolts instead

A DP install has been called one of the "right of passages" of owning these cars because it is a PITA. Like they said, be patient. If you get frustrated, step away and go have a beer. That's what I do.

I say I've been lucky...My bolts came right out. Took me about 30min to get the old exhaust off after cooling off. Putting it on took a little longer as I had to line up everything and put the bolts in all by feel as there is no room to see anything! It took about 1.5 hrs total to do everything.
Putting on my HKS DP on my old car was possibly one of the biggest PITAs in my life. One thing that I could recommend that would help alot is to get a wrench with a head the folds. Because you can't get access with a normal wrench. Also as others have said spray the bolts with penetrating oil before hand and when you put the DP back on put that copper stuff back on the bolts of the DP.
The biggest PITA in the whole thing for me what taking off the Downpipe sheild.
Good luck,
Alex

just installed mine yesterday took forever but only because the stock bolts were rediculously rusted and had to but them off the cat. but otherwise it went pretty smooth. it fit on the stock studs with out removing them took alittle patients but it went on. then of course i ran into good ol FD luck and the car didnt start. but that most likely had nothing to do with the installation. good luck hope its easier for you
