THey are descent cars. Their motors (so far) seem to hold up to daily driven abuse. I have a few friends out here in CT that have the subies and 2 of them are in the 12's. With nasty 60's, and 12 second quarters, they are hard to catch on the street. At the track, well, up to who wants to spend more money I guess. I know that on a minor budget you cant go much faster than high 12's. Anything lower than that needs a new turbo and some other things. Into the 11's and you need pistons/rods. You know where I'm going with this. They are descent, I'd like to have one for winter.

Can't touch your 7. They have potential, but not enough potential. Only good part about them is that they are cheaper to modify, and you can launch them at a high rpm. Other than that chalk another one up in the whale department.

their trannies are weak and personally i dont like 4 door cars considered sports car. just my opinion *puts on flame suit*. they run decent, around 14.3 or 14.5 stock depending on driver, and as mentioned before, get excellent 60 ft times via AWD.

Got that right. I see it first hand, as I have a 21 yr old son with a WRX and an 18 yr old son with a 93 Touring. Not to mention my own R1. The WRX is a nice car though and has a great launch but nowhere even close to the hp.

Anyway.........it's not a 7

We should have more father's like you
With any luck, I'll still have a sports car when I have a son so that I can teach him the ways of the NON-SUV world

if more WRX people knew about COBB tuning (http://www.cobbtuning.com/main.html) you would see some serious **** out there. I was an impreza guy for a while.
there was a guy around here with the cobb stage 3 motor, dont remember what kind of turbo, and a custom close ratio 6-speed, it ran 0-60 in like 3.8 or something crazy like that, and did 1/4's in 11.5##.... if AWD didnt have so much drivetrain loss, the WRX would kill. waitin for the STi........

Stock for Stock, even an STI won't catch an FD on a decent, high-speed track. On something tighter and slower, it may turn around.

FD is better high speed, but the STi and Evo beat it under 80 mph.... and always on any surface other than tarmac

Moved up from G stock to D stock in auto-x this year. Not as fast as the big dogs ... C5's, 911's, E46 M's, and of course the RX-7. Maybe if you like comparing to Prelude's, RSX's, and Eclipse's ...

I wouldn't say that.. I think they are a lot of car for the money. I just couldn't live with the drone of the AWD, and the crappy interior, and the high insurance on what is basically a family car.

I'd buy one if I drove in the snow or offroad. Looks like great fun there!
