Running stock ECU with these mods...

Guys...

I was expecting a PFC to come in today but it ended up getting shipped to the wrong address so I will be without the PFC for probably a week.

My question is this... my car already has the catylac converter eliminated w/ a straight through pipe, has an aftermarket muffler and I recently purchased a Gotham Racing midpipe.

If I install the midpipe BUT I DONT BOOST MY CAR, will the car lean out?

I just want to get the midpipe installed while I am putting in my new fluidyne radiator, and get it out of the way so when the PFC does come in --- I will be set.

So... in a nut shell --- am I okay to drive my car with essentially a straight through exhaust on the stock ECU?

you can drive it. but you can not boost above 10 psi (search 10 psi rule) I would wait a week for the pfc and get it tuned before boosting. even the pfc with stock base mod map may not support your mods. "Tune before you boost"

It would be best to wait until you've got the PFC. Failing that, I would say drive it but DO NOT BOOST. 0 psi.

do you have a boost controller?

keep it at 10psi you'll be fine. which is the tricky part, if your wastegate isn't ported nor have restrictor plate, you may boost creep and go above 10

On the topic of boost creep....

If I am driving on the highway at 70mph and I accelerate in 5th gear, I will notice the turbos go all the way to 13-14 psi momentarily... Once I get the PFC will I be able to adjust for this problem?

Lets start by having you list ALL your mods spoolage.

A completely open system is not something you can just throw in these cars. Well, you can, but you can also start a "so I just blew my engine, anybody know why?" thread w/o much effort..

I'm concerned that if you are just now replacing your stock ECU than you are in no way prepared to properly run an open midpipe (you need boost control and an upgraded fuel system at the very least).

I'd say stick with the stock cat or buy a hi-flow cat, you'll see the same power, have fewer emissions and be less likely to overboost and pop your engine.

just my $.02

But, to answer your question:

No, so long as you maintain stock boost levels the stock ECU will be perfectly safe. Not putting your foot down will be an epic exercise in will power though...
